First lifeboat lowered; first distress rocket fired
node
Lifeboat 7 went down the starboard side with about 28 people in a boat rated for 65. Around the same time the first of eight white rockets was fired. There had been no boat drill for passengers, the crew were unpractised, and few believed the ship was in danger — the pattern that left the boats carrying roughly 700 of a possible 1,178.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
