Seven Arctic states pause participation in the Arctic Council

Following the invasion of Ukraine, the seven states other than Russia announce they will not attend meetings under the Russian chairmanship. The only pan-Arctic body with indigenous peoples seated at the table stops functioning normally at the moment its region is changing fastest. Limited work resumed subsequently in written form; the Council has not returned to its previous mode of operation.
