Okavango Delta inscribed as the 1,000th UNESCO World Heritage site
node
On the recommendation of IUCN, the World Heritage Committee inscribed the Okavango Delta as the 1,000th site on the World Heritage List. The inscription recognised a wetland whose flooding regime depends on rainfall and abstraction decisions in Angola and Namibia, upstream of Botswana's jurisdiction — protection of a place whose controlling variable lies outside it.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
